Day 1 - AM

  • Attitude – how it affects driving
  • Tennessee Requirements for gaining and maintaining the privilege to drive. Tennessee driver Improvement Program
  • Vehicle – Control Devices, Seating Position, Outside Checks, Inside Adjustments, seatbelts, Airbags, Putting the car in motion.
  • Highway Transportation System – Physical, mental and social skill
  • Defensive Driving
  • Identifying and managing Risk – IPDE Process

Day 1 - PM

  • Signs, signals and markings
  • Using your eyes effectively – Smith System, Scanning, Orderly Visual Search Patterns

Day 2 - AM

  • Test – Signs, Signals and Markings
  • Basic Car Maneuvers
    • Steering
    • Forward
    • Reverse
    • Right turns
    • Left turns
    • Lane changing
    • Parking
    • Turnabouts
    • Effective braking
    • Lane positioning
  • Communicating – Signals, lights, brakes
